我是願意相信封面設計的。

就像是《Morning Phase》的封面給我一種深沉卻溫暖的感覺，第一眼看到時就有所感應。進一步試聽，很快便確認這是自己想聽的音樂了。

回想起Beck九零年代剛出道時是個怪咖，善用拼貼將不同音樂元素融合在一起，炮製出獨樹一格的音樂形態。

然而隨著Beck年紀的增長，逐漸看到他成熟和更感性的個人世界。這張《Morning Phase》完全不同於早期的創意大熔爐手法，配器和編曲較為單純，創作上著重於直接表達情感，是一張內斂而較為內心的作品。

歌曲多屬中板和慢板節奏，因此也是讓人聽了心境會沉靜下來的音樂。尤其經過了一年的奔波擾攘，感覺上特別適合在年底聆聽，彷彿像是進行一場心靈沉澱和修復的儀式。

部分歌曲恰如其分地運用迴音效果，增添了空靈感。好比〈Morning〉的意境。

滄涼、失落；但在迴盪的樂音與和聲中，蘊含著一份深沉的溫暖。正如同那張封面一開始就告訴我的一樣。
